Dear Bill, Bob's wife Val has just been taken to hospital with what is suspected to be a large sub-arach-noid bleed.

My brother-in-law Dr. Allen attended at the house. He is very dependant on Val and they are great mates.

Weston says modern medical interventions might save her if she makes it to hospital. I won't write this to the entire group but you might like to let them know individually or put on a discrete message. I'll keep you informed.

In the early 1980's one of Bob's closest colleagues in the Awakening died of the same thing. The Brinsmeads divided off land and built a home for his widow and four children. I think this will hit Bob very hard especially as John Slade's death was so sudden and such a blow, he will be living it all over again. Thanks for the on-going contribution this JBAS site provides. Trust all is well with your family. We only have each other a day at the time so need to make it the best day we have.

Julia.

Oh my.

Val has my prayers for sure.

Bob and Val seem to be very close. Not everyone is so lucky to have a mate like that.

Can you get me the details of Bob's education? His entry at Wikipedia makes it sound like he's an adventist drop out.

Dear Bill, Where such notions come from.

Bob completed his BA in theology at Avondale Adventist college. He wrote a book in his final months that my parents ran off the press and distributed just weeks prior to his graduation (something he had not wanted to happen).
This book ended by quoting a prophecy that the abomination would enter the holy land. The church took this to be that Bob was teaching that the abomination that maketh desolate was in the church and dis-fellowshipped him and refused to let him graduate.

>WF:Do you know what year this was? I need dates for the >WIKI entry. So in effect they denied him his academic >credentials? Did Bob get his BA from
them?

In his final year he was taking many of the head of theology's, Dr Burn's classes and leading a great interest in spiritual things amongst his fellow
students. The college was in revival mode with room meetings until midnight on many nights. There was such a ground swell that I believe like the high priests they just had to deal a heavy blow.

The week before he was put out I was told that Des Ford, then a theology professor (who joined Bob in delivering the gospel to Adventists in the 1980's) said he was sitting on the platform ready to take the Sabbathservice at Avondale when a voice directed him to look at Bob and said to Des that this young man is my chosen vessel. Des fought this conviction for years. [Desmond] Ended up in our home for months when his wife was dying of cancer so had many hours of dialogue with Bob and eventually a few years later joined forces.

WF: Bob doesn't talk much about these unusual experiences like what Desmond had.

Of course as you probably know Des has stayed an Adventist with his own fringe ministry. Apart from this Bob completed highschool with brilliant marks from Murwillumbah high school

WF: Can you tell me any particulars about his grades, awards etc? If any.

Julia: [Brinsmead] ran large family farming businesses for several years

WF: Was this separate from Troprical Fruit world? What was he farming? Is the farm still in production?
If so, who runs it?

Julia: while doing personal study and research into theology and then went to Avondale in his mid twenties. I'm only too happy to give any background and Bob couldn't care less what they say about him or his education.

WF: Yeah I know. But I feel like I owe Bob for getting me out of the WCG cult, the least I can do is make sure they got their facts straight about his life. This stuff is going to sit on electronic files forever.

Julia: Val came from a very respected Adventist family and to her great honour she stood by him every step of the way and married him after she graduated from teaching at Avondale.

WF: Did her family disown her for that or support her in her decision. Did she suffer for it? I remember the tale you told of your dad [Tyack] being physically throne out of the SDA service after Bob became persona-non-grata in Adventist circles and how he had a great big smile on his face and showed no anger. You said the minister called your family "the tools of Satan" while you were sitting in the congregation.

Hi Bill, Isn't it just great in the most pressured time Bob is finding release by getting on JBAS and interacting.

Val's family supported Bob. Of course initially he was the college star when they met. Val was young and her Dad said she could marry young if she married Bob. She had another guy doing theology after her.

Tropical fruit world is a late comer. Bob ran and worked on banana plantations first in the hills behind where they live now then right up in the jungles of North Queensland the family had banana plantations and large cane farms.

You are really special to Bob and as I said he thinks you can say some things like no one else.

Be Back Julia.
